Discuss bands here

For the sake of keeping discussion flowing, let's not just put up a list of the bands we like, but rather you know... actually discuss music here as a whole.
Don't be ashamed if you feel you've got dissimilar tastes in music to others. Of our members so far, I think I can say that the most of us have a very broad taste in (what we deem "good") music.

Oh but if you're like a sucky emo kid, then yeah. Don't post here. We've all heard and seen all of your music all before. You're not showing us anything new - trust me.

Ok, so. I know LJ's into Iron Maiden. That got a backstory to it?

You mean the backstory of why I like Iron Maiden?

Re: Music

Yep. Like is there any specific thing that fuelled a liking for their style or anything like that?

Re: Music

Hey Guys, while you are all off to bed, i just turned the old compy on!

I am into a lot of different bands and styles. My favourite song of all time is a classical music piece (yeah so im a bit of a geek - deal with it). It's called Danse Macabre. It pretty much about skeletons dancing in a graveyard, and you can more or less hear the waltz the ghouls and stuff do. It's awesome.

Danse Macabre

But i also like all kinds of other music like nightwish and evanescence (because that is my fav genre), rock (who doesnt like rock), roll (because i ate to much) and punk. A bit of pop never goes awry.

Oh and the Jonas Brothers - no one can live without the Jonas Bros  Tongue

Re: Music

That Danse Macabre track sounds pretty awesome.
Yeah, I love classical music. Don't worry, I think most of us joined here so far appreciate classical music quite a bit though (as do a lot of other gamers), what with our game soundtrack tastes (Morrowind, Oblivion, etc).
A while back I "got" an album featuring the 50 most popular classical pieces of all time. It's freakin' awesome. And just recently I "got" Kronos Quartet's CD on which they do Phillip Glass. Awesome as.

The soundtrack to the film Gattaca has some AWESOME classical stuff. As does Gladiator, and a Beautiful Mind.
There are too many films with good classical/orchestral/quartet soundtracks to mention though.

I think the most popular style though would be like the epic orchestral stuff, because that's the most prominent in the most forward medias like film and video games nowadays.
